Job Description

Industrial Reliability Mechanic (Adhesives Manufacturing) Day-in-the-life on the overnight shift

It’s 10:55 PM in Mesquite, TX. You scan the end-of-shift notes, gear up, and take ownership of the plant through sunrise. Your night is a mix of proactive PMs and targeted troubleshooting across a food-grade hot melt adhesive operation—keeping mixers turning, conveyors moving, and packaging lines flowing. When a pump won’t prime or a conveyor starts tracking off, you dive in, stabilize it safely, and document your steps so dayshift can finish strong.

About the role

Pro Services Workforce Solutions has partnered with a leading industrial adhesive manufacturer to hire a 3rd-shift, mechanically focused Maintenance Mechanic on a direct-hire basis in Mesquite, TX. This position was created by growth—production is up more than 40%—and you’ll be the go-to maintenance pro overnight after training.

About the plant and team
  • 70-year-old facility, owned by the company for 50 years—mix of classic 1970s–80s equipment alongside brand-new packaging lines and robotic palletizers.
  • One of the company’s most recognized sites—frequent VP/CEO visits; considered the gold standard for training.
  • Safety-first culture with a dedicated EHS manager collaborating closely with maintenance on LOTO and fall prevention. Real stop-work authority. Peer-to-peer safety coaching encouraged.
  • Employee-focused leadership with camaraderie and recognition (think steak cookouts and holiday events).
  • Tools provided, including specialty tooling—show up ready to work and the shop equips you.
  • Non-union facility.
What you’ll tackle
  • Perform reactive mechanical/electrical repairs and planned preventive maintenance across the plant.
  • Maintain process equipment: hot oil and water boilers, steam systems, chillers, mix/hold tanks, pumps, pelletizers, baghouses, scales, insulation, and vacuum/roller/belt conveyors.
  • Support packaging systems: case erectors, baggers, case sealers, check weighers, metal detectors, and robotic palletizers.
  • Rebuild and service mechanical devices: bearings, shafts, seals, couplers, gearboxes, conveyors; work with pneumatics (solenoids, pressure switches).
  • Troubleshoot positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, starting with fundamentals (baskets, flow checks) to prevent repeat failures.
  • Electrical troubleshooting from 24 VDC controls to 480 VAC three-phase: motors, relays, sensors, fuses, breakers; diagnose with a meter.
  • Use HMIs for diagnostics and perform basic robotic fault-finding to gather details and form an action plan.
  • Execute PMs with ownership—tighten, torque, grease, and inspect; don’t assume “running” means “good.”
  • When a fix carries over, stabilize safely and document issues and attempted steps for a clean dayshift handoff.
  • Follow lockout/tagout and fall-prevention procedures every time; exercise stop-work authority as needed.
What you bring
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience with minimal oversight required.
  • Strong mechanical foundation (top priority): rebuilds, bearings/shafts/seals, gearboxes/couplers, conveyors, machine setup, and process understanding.
  • Basic electrical skills: control voltage, 110–240V single-phase, 480V three-phase; confident meter use; relays and sensors.
  • Basic pneumatics; hands-on experience with positive displacement and centrifugal pumps; HMI experience.
  • Strong safety habits, especially around LOTO.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift Monday–Friday with occasional weekends, on-call, and overtime.
Nice to have
  • Intermediate/advanced mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic capability.
  • Reading diagrams/schematics ; electrical cabinet troubleshooting.
  • Motors, VFDs, transformers, I/O modules, wiring.
  • Accessing PLCs/VFDs for troubleshooting or resets (hardware-level only; mostly Allen-Bradley).
  • Basic robotic troubleshooting; air diaphragm pumps; any level of welding.
  • Background in GMP, packaging, or food production.
Who excels here

Independent, decisive mechanics who pride themselves on quality PMs, root-cause thinking, and clear communication. You manage your time, support operators and shift leads as a partner, and leave thorough notes so the next shift wins. Safety is personal—you recognize hazards and aren’t afraid to coach or stop work.

Pay, schedule, and employment details

  • $28–$34 per hour based on experience + $2/hr shift differential
  • 3rd shift | Monday–Friday | 11:00 PM–7:30 AM

Work environment and physical requirements
  • Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 21–50 lbs for less than one-third of the shift (heavier loads use lifts/hoists/teams).
  • Mix of standing, walking, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending; stairs; ladder/scaffold work.
  • Some areas hot, wet, narrow, or tight (confined space work is contracted out).
  • Normal vision required, including color and depth perception.
  • Required PPE: steel-toe boots, uniform, safety glasses, bump cap, hearing protection.
Why you’ll like it here
  • Join the benchmark site the rest of the company learns from.
  • Role exists because of real growth—your impact is felt immediately.
